“One of our play dates in 2nd grade. We spent the whole day together and had a sleepover (something we did often the Summer of 2009). We were going to go to the beach, roller skate on the Strand, grab Wingstop and Jamba Juice for dinner, and then finally come home and play games. We talked about which games we wanted to play for our game night and decided on Taboo and Just Dance. We thought we’d be sneaky and put together a scheme to win at Taboo against her parents so we looked ahead at the Taboo cards and came up with code words that we could say for certain words. For example, if the person giving the clue pulled the card “Taco Bell” - that person would say ‘Ding’ and the person guessing would know that it was Taco Bell. We came up with a few code words and kept it a secret from her parents the whole day. Fast forward to the end of our full day, we began playing Taboo against her parents. We would follow along with our plan during each of our turns and thought we were sooo clever. Auntie and Uncle were so confused yet impressed and gave reason to our “best friend connection”. With every round that went on we would laugh so hard at every code word we used, and the last turn we had, it was Ding/Taco Bell which we busted out into endless laughter. This memory was so fond to us that we commemorated it by getting matching tattoos of a bell on our hip in 2021!”
Jeremy Nieraeth
Brandon’s best man and go-to-guy for all matters, big or small

“When I visited him and the bride in Chicago while they were living there for the summer in 2022. While there are countless memories I can share about him, I think that during that trip, our friendship really deepened. There was one night when we went out to the high-rise balcony and talked about life, sports, and everything in between until the sun rose the next morning. Brandon has a way of making even the most simple moments or random conversations memorable because that's just who he is. I think that he is constantly surrounded by great people in his life because that's the kind of person he is that attracts great people. That is one of my favorite memories I've had with Brandon, and I look forward to all the new ones to come in the future.”
Ria Calib
The friend who rises to the top when Kayla thinks of the people she is grateful to have been introduced to by Branz
-
“Going to her basketball games and hanging out after with friends, there would be times where both us wouldn’t know what the group was talking about and we’d just look at each other and just laugh. Another favorite memory is “goat cheese” 🤭”
Ben Flores
The guy who can match Brandon’s sports fandom and gets all his niche anime references

“Going bar hopping in Hermosa that ends up with Branz willingly laying in the middle of the street shout out paddy molloys and underground.”

“Senior night at Penn! It was such a memorable night being able to watch her play at the Palestra. There was this little girl that asked to take a photo with her and she was wearing a jersey with her number on it. It was the cutest thing ever, I couldn’t stop crying. Seeing her inspire the next generation in real time was so heartwarming I could not have felt more happy and proud of her.“
Jordan Gallardo
If Brandon is ever craving a miche, he calls this guy
-
“Going to the Chargers game vs the Bengals with Benji! I feel like we got so much closer from that day forward, and so happy to call you one of my best friends. To many more years of friendship and memories.”
Natalie Ibarra
Went from not being able to stand each other in the 4th grade to now becoming the closest of friends

“Witnessing Kayla’s breakdown after Bruce’s team emailed her. Second favorite was when she fell on Uncle Vince’s treadmill :’(“

“St. Patrick’s Day 2025 Margarita Monday at Kalaveras. Where Brandon convinced me a drunk cigarette does not count. I have not been to Redondo Beach or Kalaveras ever since. Most of my war stories come from hanging out with Brandon and I can’t wait to have more stories with him.”
Chastity Manalastas
The youngest of the group, Kayla and Chastity grew up more acting as sisters than cousins
-
“Growing up, one of my favorite things to do was hang out with her, even though most of the time we were probably fighting. I remember when we both went to Nativity and Papa Joe would pick us up together after school, and I’d get to hang out with her friends while we waited for him to get there. When he did, we’d go to Papa Joe’s house, watch Phineas and Ferb on my iPad, and eat strawberries with sugar. I also really liked watching her play basketball. I always wanted to come to her games, and one of my favorites was going to Pennsylvania to watch her play.”
Niko Osorio
Brandon’s older brother and the superior Madden player in the Osorio household

“Going to his football games. The football game I went to for him would be in the fog up in P.V. I believe he ran more than 100 yards during his first few games. We went to North High and there was rain everywhere which I never expected. I’m proud for him during those games I attended. Win or lose, I’m there for support.”
Mia Manalastas
The only bridesmaid to know Kayla since the day she was born and the “M” of the famous “K&M Show”

“Kayla may be an athlete, but swimming was never her strong suit. I’ve rescued Kayla from drowning more times than I can count. When we were little, our parents and grandparents took us to a wedding at a hotel in San Diego. If you know our family, you know the adults planned on getting drunk, so naturally, they dropped us off at the hotel daycare. We spent the night playing games in the arcade until our “babysitter” took us and the other kids outside to eat dinner and watch a movie overlooking the pool. I went to the bathroom for less than a minute, and when I came back, Kayla was fully clothed…swimming in the pool. The only problem was that she really couldn’t swim. Being the older cousin, I obviously had to yell at her for jumping in the pool at night with all her clothes on.”
Eli Sala
Brandon’s funniest boxing partner and fellow murse

“When Lia & I came over to his house for game night. We were playing a card game as a group and Wyatt needed help spelling “Minecraft”. We encouraged him to sound it out, so we left him alone for a couple minutes and continued our game. Some time passed and Wyatt started to give up so Brandon spelled it out while Wyatt was typing. When Wyatt showed us the iPad it was all downhill from there. After spelling out the word for Wyatt, it just read “mrec” on the search bar. Brandon and I immediately started dying and couldn’t stop laughing for the next 5 minutes or so (sorry Wyatt). I think we kept adding little jokes and comments as well but we were laughing too much so it was just gibberish. Such a small moment but I cherish this memory because there’s only a few amount of people in my life that I’ve uncontrollably laughed with to the point of tears.”
Jessica Osorio
Kayla’s newest sister and unbeatable karaoke partner

“I have so many fun memories with Kayla, but the one that stands out the most is watching her and Brandon celebrate their engagement at the trap house. You can just feel their love and happiness in the house, and it was so infectious. We were all literally filled with joy and love too.”
Michael Silva
Brandon’s biggest rival in the West High weight room and one of his oldest friends

“When we were in freshman football and we went toe to toe in the Oklahoma drill. Or maybe it’s when we were seniors and he was freaking out about going on his first date with KP. Or maybe it’s when we painted ourselves for a game and we saw Travis Scott and saw KP win. There is a lot to choose from, but I know when we are all together we are going to laugh a lot and I know there are going to be so many more memories to make. ”
